¹³ Now when Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, 
“Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
¹⁴ They said, “Some say John the Baptizer, some, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
¹⁵ He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
¹⁶ Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Heavenly father
give us grace today to be open to you revealing truths  to us.

“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
¹⁷ Jesus answered him, 
“Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah,
for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you,
but my Father who is in heaven.

give us grace today to be forgiven and forgiving

give us grace today to seek first the kingdom of God, whatever the consequences.

give us grace today to deny ourselves, take up our crosses and follow you. 

²⁴ Then Jesus said to his disciples, 
“If anyone desires to come after me,
let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. 
²⁵ For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it. 
²⁶ For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life?

give us grace today to live in the kingdom and not taste those things that not of the kingdom. 

²⁷ For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels,
and then he will render to everyone according to his deeds.

until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”

⁶ When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces, and were very afraid.
