Easter Events

On the night that Jesus was betrayed (Maundy Thursday) Jesus took bread, gave thanks, broke it and shared it with his followers. The church comes together to share a meal, remember the Passover and the events of Maundy Thursday.

A child friendly Walk of Witness starting at St Andrew’s church at 11am on Good Friday, stopping 5 times to hear readings, sing hymns and pray. We walk to the post office and then return to just outside the library for coffee.

On Good Friday we meet to hear the Good Friday and Easter story and sing hymns, followed by tea

An opportunity to come together to learn and sing sacred music in Holy Week - the week ending in Easter Day. in 2024 this is Lloyd Webber’s “Pie Jesu” together with Amazing Grace, Freedom is Coming.  In the past we have sung Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus & “And the Glory of the Lord”, Rutter’s “the Lord bless you and keep you” and  John Stainer’s “God so loved the World” 

Our morning service on Easter day is a special celebration of the resurrection. Sometimes it includes a baptism in which the person being baptised goes under the water (symbolising their willingness to walk the way of the cross), and is brought back up (as an expression of trust in the God who raised Jesus from the dead).

Activities for primary and preschool children with their carers which include making Easter biscuits & craft, Easter themed sensory play, Story time & egg hunt
