God - in the Bible
We believe in the God described in the Bible, who rescued slaves from Egypt, gave them the Mosaic Law, gave them the land of Israel, allowed them to be taken into exile when they turned to other gods, became human in the crucified and risen Jesus, and is present in believers by the Holy Spirit.
God - in Jesus
In Jesus we see what real goodness looks like and the freedom that arises from laying down of power and overcoming evil with good. We are saved from the dreadful consequences of overcoming evil with evil, or of letting evil go unchecked. God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them.
As humans we experience something of all of the aspects of the nature of God: faithfulness, truth, humility, hope, peace, joy, love, generosity, creativity, forgiveness, healing and justice. The journey of faith is one where we find that each of these is much greater than we had dreamed of, and indeed eternal.
