Sung Worship

Sung Worship uses music from 19^th, 20^th and 21^st century sung at a lower pitch to facilitate wide participation. We are free to stand or sit, to be silent or sing, or use percussion as we worship. The music group seeks to facilitate worship using keyboard, guitars, drums and a pipe organ. Next Sunday’s music is shown under “read more”

Prayers of intercession

We pray for each person in the church by name each year on the week of their birthday (and sing happy birthday). We pray for the work of Tear fund and BMS World Mission at least once a month, and for each of our community activities at least once a term. We pray for other national and international issues at least once a month.

Bread and Wine

All those of any age who desire to meet with God in receiving gluten free bread and non alcoholic wine are welcome to do so in our twice monthly communion services. Those of any age who wish to do so take turns at serving the bread and wine.

Bible Teaching and Preaching

Our sermons seek to explain the links made with other parts of the bible (and often precede the reading from the bible). They also seek to encourage us in our faith as well as challenge us to put what we learn into practice.

Different Age groups

Value Builders (Sunday School) is our separate provision for children every Sunday Morning after the All Together part of the service. There are groups in the Family Centre for preschool + primary and secondary school aged children. The exception is the monthly All Together Service (Family Service) which is completely inter-generational. There are also termly socials for Primary and Secondary school children.

Sunday Worship - Tea and coffee

Talking to each other, praying for each other, sharing the joys, sorrows and challenges of life, is very important, both before the Sunday morning service and afterwards, when refreshments are served. Someone recently said that “You can be you, without having to pretend to be churchy”.

Prayers for Healing

Once a quarter we offer anointing of oil to everyone. We often use words from Psalm 23: “Please refresh my soul. Bring healing to my body. Be present in my dark valleys. Surround me with your goodness and love all the days of my life”

Serving

Different people welcome others on the doors, read the bible, preach, coordinate the service, take part in the music group, lead intercessions, lead and help with children’s groups and clean the church building. People also serve communion during the service tea and coffee after the service.

Themes

The bible readings for each block of Sundays follow a particular theme, which could be a book of the bible or a topic. Blocks can last any number of months.
