Sunday Worship - Bread and Wine

We seek to follow the pattern of taking, thanking, breaking and giving from the feeding of the 5000, the night before Jesus was betrayed and the house in Emmaeus.  We seek to remember the one who is the bread of life as we eat together as the body of Christ.  We acknowledge the cost of the covenant for the forgiveness of sins as we drink from the cup.

Our current practices have wide but not universal support: in our morning service adults break bread fortnightly, using a variety of words, sometimes weaving eating and drinking into bible readings and songs.  Several different people distribute the bread and the cups.

Our current practice is to have, non alcoholic wine once a month and grape juice once a month when children are present, using a single loaf as well as a gluten free bread cubes, sometimes giving people the opportunity to kneel, having different people giving thanks, giving thanks for those who have gone before us, and ensuring that this, and all aspects of our gathered worship, are focussed on our Lord.
