Chapter 2 so far:
11Jesus has done the first of his signs and revealed his glory.
Reading:
23 Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name.[d] 24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. 25 He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person.
Question
In the face of many people believing in Jesus’ name, Jesus does not entrust himself to them, on the basis of something that Jesus know about them.
What does Jesus know?
Possible Answer:
The believing on the name of Jesus was just on the basis of the signs (God sorted out the problem, in this case a lack of wine)
Not on the basis of Jesus’ revealed glory - his ability to take the broken water pots (there were 6 and should have been 7) and common materials (water) to make something deeply satisfying.
Prayer
Heavenly father, give me grace to see the hidden glory of Jesus and to trust in Him.
