Psalm 10
Book
Psalms
Chapter
10
Start Verse
1
When things go wrong, LORD, you seem distant,
almost as though you are hiding yourself,
and I don’t understand why.
I am troubled both by the suffering of those who are weak,
and also by the success of those who have no room for God.
It seems particularly wrong that those who are helpless
suffer at the hands of those who are arrogant and greedy,
So, Arise, LORD, and do something for those who are helpless,
for I know that you see the trouble and grief of the afflicted,
and I know that you are their helper.
Please take away power from those who cause suffering, and call them to account.
I remind myself of the eternal perspective:
all earthly powers will eventually come to an end,
leaving only your eternal kingdom, LORD,
in which you hear the desire of the afflicted and you encourage them;
a kingdom in which you defend those who are oppressed, releasing them from fear.
