Psalm 5
Book
Psalms
Chapter
5
Start Verse
1
1 Listen to my words, Lord, 2 hear my cry for help,
my King and my God, for to you I pray.
3 In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice and I wait expectantly.
4 For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness;
5 When we are arrogant we cannot stand in your presence.
You, Lord, detest all bloodthirsty and deceitful behaviour
7 But I, by your great love, am allowed in your presence
in reverence I bow down towards you.
8 Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness
because of all that turns me away from you
make your way straight before me.
9 Let me see how destructive deceitful mouths and malicious hearts are
Let me see how throats turn into open grave when tongues tell lies.
11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad and sing for joy;
Spread your protection over them, that those who love who you are may rejoice in you.
12 Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favour as with a shield.
