Isaiah 51v9-11

Heavenly Father
give us grace to place today and tomorrow in your hands with joy, trusting in your power shown in the past. 

[the power of Yahweh existed before history and is attested to in mythical stories of monsters such as Rahab]

⁹ Awake, awake, put on strength, arm of Yahweh!
    Awake, as in the days of old,
    the generations of ancient times.
Isn’t it you who cut Rahab in pieces,
    who pierced the monster?

[the power of Yahweh was shown in history .e.g. deliverance from tyranny through the red sea] 
¹⁰ Isn’t it you who dried up the sea,
    the waters of the great deep;
    who made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over? 

[the power of Yahweh will be shown in the present & future .e.g. in the return from exile in Babylon to Zion(Jerusalem)]
¹¹ Those ransomed by Yahweh will return,
    and come with singing to Zion.
    Everlasting joy shall be on their heads.
They will obtain gladness and joy.
    Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
