Sometimes (Isaiah 1:15) this is what God has to say to people:
15When you stretch our your hands
I will hide my eyes from you;
Even through you make many prayers, I will not listen;
Wow! Why is this?: It is because
Your hands are full of blood
Removing blood from someone, means removing life from them.
Our hands are full of blood when we directly or indirectly take life from others.
If we have done this we must …
16Wash yourselves;
Make yourselves clean;
Removed the evil of your doings from before my eyes;
Cease to do evil.
17Learn to do good;
Unless we have literally killed someone we may be wondering how this may apply to us.
Injustice and oppression occur whenever people with power exercise it to the detriment of others.
We all have some power, to name but two we have economic power in what we purchase and social power in how we conduct our relationships,
What is God calling me to do:
Seek justice,
rescue the oppressed,
defend the orphan
plead for the widow.
At the point at which we know that we have done wrong hear the merciful words of God:
18Come now, let us argue it out, says the LORD
though our sins are like scarlet,
they shall be white as snow’
though they are red like crimson
they shall become like wool.
