Heavenly father
give us grace to love, trust and give thanks today

⁷ [your faith] may be found to result in praise, glory, and honour at the revelation of Jesus Christ— 
⁸ whom, not having known, you love.
In him, though now you don’t see him, yet believing,
you rejoice greatly with joy that is unspeakable and full of glory, 
⁹ receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 

Heavenly father
give us grace to live as those who are set free from the fear that we are alone when we suffer
and those who live in the glorious freedom of the risen Christ

Heavenly father
give us grace to walk humbly before you today, rejecting all other useless ways of life

¹⁷ If you call on him as Father,
who without respect of persons judges according to each man’s work,
pass the time of your living as foreigners here in reverent fear, 
¹⁸ knowing that you were redeemed,
not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from the useless way of life handed down from your fathers, 
 

Heavenly father
give us grace to live today as those whose faith and hope are in you, particularly when faced with anything that is at all deadly

give us grace today to put away all wickedness, deceit, hypocrisy, envy and evil speaking
