Isaiah 8
Book
Isaiah
Chapter
8
Start Verse
1
Heavenly father, give me grace to fear only you, so that I may fear no one else, for I know that if I trust in anyone or anything other than you, so I shall stumble and fall.
5 The Lord spoke to me again: 6 “Because the people of Judah are not satisfied with adequate resources I have given them (e.g. the rivers of their own country) and melt with fear at their militarily strong neighbours Israel and Syria 7 therefore the Lord is about to bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the Euphrates, and all the might of Assyria. 8 which will sweep over Judah.
11 This is what the Lord says to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people: 12 “Do not fear what they fear 13 but rather fear the Lord Almighty
14 For He will be a holy place; for both Israel and Judah he will be a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.
17 I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from his people. I will put my trust in him.
