Give us grace today to live in grace and peace

Give us grace today to be self controlled, persevering in  brotherly affection and love

⁵ Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence,
in your faith supply moral excellence;
and in moral excellence, knowledge; 
⁶ and in knowledge, self-control;
and in self-control perseverance;
and in perseverance godliness; 
⁷ and in godliness brotherly affection;
and in brotherly affection, love.

Give us grace today so that faith, self control and love abound in us 

⁸ For if these things are yours and abound,
[namely faith, moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly affection and love.]
they make you to not be idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.…

Give us grace today to remember what is most important, and to encourage others to do the same.

Give us grace today to take heed to the words of scripture

Give us grace today to not be deceived, but walking in the truth and in obedience to our Master

as false teachers will also be among you,
who will secretly bring in destructive heresies,
denying even the Master who bought them,
bringing on themselves swift destruction.

and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned.
